Italchimica at Dialoghi d'Impresa the human dimension at the centre of the business narrative
Last Saturday, 9 November 2024, Italchimica took part in Dialoghi d’Impresa, a festival celebrating the human dimension in companies, held in the evocative setting of the ‘Cesare De Michelis’ Auditorium at M9 – Museo del ‘900 in Mestre.
Stefano Belloni, Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs at Italchimica, spoke on the theme of generational comparison and the importance of building an intergenerational dialogue, in the panel entitled ‘Human resources do not exist. Only people exist‘ moderated by Katiuscia Bertelle of AIDP Giovani and HR Consultant for Orienta.
Belloni emphasised how the creation of spaces for confrontation within companies is essential: ‘It is fundamental to establish intergenerational communication channels through training, project work and focus groups, to guarantee moments of confrontation and knowledge, so that every voice is heard and answered’. He also highlighted the importance of purpose, i.e. the search for a deep meaning in work, which is particularly dear to the new generations: ‘Today young people are not only looking for training and pay, but they want to feel part of a company that shares their same values, and from here,’ Belloni emphasised, ‘the obvious, enormous opportunity for companies to make a difference not only economically but also socially’.
Among the other topics developed in the same panel, which also featured Ludovica Leschiera HR Training Coordinator for Orienta and Camilla Fenato, HR Specialist at Porsche Italia, mentorship was discussed as a powerful tool for onboarding and training, but one that must have a two-way character, so much so that one speaks of reverse mentorship to indicate the role that young people can take on by becoming mentors of senior figures themselves, for example by teaching how to relate to young people new to a company.
Another topic discussed was the culture of error as an opportunity for growth, on which Belloni commented that ‘while I recognise error as something positive and something to work on in order to learn, I would circumscribe it to errors of method but not to violations of value norms that cannot be accepted’.
Dialoghi d’Impresa was once again confirmed as an event full of insights and opportunities to reflect on the centrality of people in the world of work.
