Italchimica at the Italia Economy Innovation Forum

Innovation and sustainability at the heart of Italian competitiveness

In the evocative setting of Asolo (TV) and in the prestigious Replay headquarters, Italchimica took part in the event ‘Designing the Future’ promoted by Italia Economy, which saw the presence of key figures of the Veneto industry for a discussion on the current economic and technological challenges.

The meeting highlighted the role of practical and sustainable innovation as a crucial element in maintaining Italy’s competitiveness, in a global scenario that sees Europe lagging behind giants such as the USA and China on global challenges such as decarbonisation and the growing technology gap.

A scenario that was summed up as follows by Ilaria Salzarulo Innovation manager and moderator of one of the three panels: ‘According to the study presented by Mario Draghi last month (ed. September 2024) on Europe’s competitiveness, without a cohesive action plan, we risk going from being leaders to mere extras on the world stage.

Monica Rigoni, Marketing Manager at Italchimica, shared the company’s vision for responsible innovation, highlighting the company’s commitment to recycling waste and reusing resources. With the launch of cellulosic recyclable paper packaging and rigorous environmental certifications, Italchimica demonstrates that innovation can be both sustainable and cost-effective.

‘What is needed, however,’ Rigoni emphasised, ’is a team effort between institutions, schools and the civil world, to encourage a cultural change that truly rewards companies that believe in sustainability and produce in accordance with its fundamental principles. ‘At the moment,’ Rigoni observes, ‘companies are faced with situations in which the certifications obtained on sustainability issues are not recognised by consumers and, consequently, do not represent real added value on the market. Moreover, the regulatory system struggles to acknowledge and regulate product innovations, becoming an obstacle to competitiveness.

‘Italchimica is ready to continue this path of sustainable innovation, responding to the needs of a market that is increasingly sensitive to the environmental quality of products,’ Rigoni concluded.

In a blog following the event, Ilaria Salzarulo testified that the active participation and the testimonies collected during the forum reveal a renewal movement driven by the generation of 30 and 40 year olds, entrepreneurs who choose to invest and innovate in our country. This innovative spirit translates in many ways, such as the entry into new markets, the birth of innovative start-ups but also the restructuring of business practices in established companies, where courageous managers redefine approaches to work and human capital development.
